Black History Month Dinner
Malika Grayson, Treasurer of A.P.O
The ballroom was empty last night as the executive board of Adelphi's African People's Organization (A.P.O) and Carribean Culture Awareness Club (C.C.A.C) went on stage to talk about black history from the 1800's to the present. Each one of the speakers took the time to find and wear an outfit from the era they were speaking about and put on a little show or dance, while presenting 25-40 slides on their time period in black history.
"We organize these events and nobody shows up," said Raisa Turner Vice-President of A.PO, "All our money and hard work goes down the drain."
A.P.O and C.C.A.C had been organizing this event since the semester had started, and they spent a lot of money on food, which no one was there to eat.
"Take extra plates!" Melita Dillard, president of A.P.O shouted as the program ended and people started leaving the ballroom.
The two organizations hope that more people will turn out for their future events especially for their main event, A.P.O's Fashion Show coming in April, and C.C.A.C's comedy show coming in early March.
